11 U S Fliers Killed In Laos Operations
The Pentagon disclosed that secrecy has masked 11 U S air crew deaths from Laos air operations in the past two years with fewer than 20 air crewmen missing or prisoners. Since May 1964 U S aerial reconnaissance over Laos began at the Royal Laotian Government request and air attacks on Communist routes into South Vietnam have intensified. Senator John Stennis warned Army shortages could create grave difficulty if Viet Nam combat reached World War II or Korean scales.
