Indianapolis May 4 AP Louis Johnson national commander of the American Legion urged a four point permanent policy on national legislation affecting veterans. He condemned economy cuts in veterans benefits as beyond what Congress promised and urged retention of rehabilitation, permanent classifications for all service connected disabilities, care for orphans of all wars, and federal wardship for incapacitated veterans without means. He argued the Budget Director and advisers misused the law, harming veterans with battle casualties by large benefit reductions.
