FPC split on Alaska to Canada gas pipeline routes

City Manager Evaluation Continues In Lawrence

Lawrence city commissioners continued evaluating City Manager Buford Watson in a closed session at city hall. They planned a composite report from 12 evaluation criteria and six management potential categories, with Ed Carter drafting the report for review before a final executive session with Watson.

Housing official refuses reinstatement of longtime Edgewood director

Doris Kaiser, executive director of Edgewood and Babcock Place housing projects since 1974, will not be reinstated by the Lawrence Housing Authority. The authority’s chairwoman Kathryn Calvin called the matter closed despite a petition from about 90 residents noting Kaiser’s availability and care for families. Kaiser resigned for personal reasons last Tuesday and later said she was forced out. Cobler, tenant association vice chairman, charged repairs, rate discrepancies, lack of programs, and noncompliance with federal rules, while Mayor Argersinger plans to discuss regulations with officials. Kaiser said she hopes to find another position elsewhere.

Accident victim in serious condition in Kansas City

Kelli Cobb six year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Alan Cobb of 936 Illinois street was in serious condition at Kansas University Medical Center after Monday being struck by a van near Ninth and Illinois crosswalk. Police said John Sullentrop thirty two of Overland Park drove the van. Witnesses said she was running northbound when hit. No charges filed yet.
