Cattle Seen In Local Show At Douglas County Fairgrounds
Forty one purebred Hereford Angus and Shorthorn cattle were shown at the Douglas County Beef Breeders Association seventh annual spring show held at the 4H Fairgrounds. Fifteen of 22 exhibitors were 4H or FFA members. Winners included DeSoto’s Bob Camerlinck with the Angus female champion and open class reserve, and 4H members Elaine Funk Lawrence and Richard Ice Lawrence with breed reserves. Open class winners included Beeks Hereford Farm Baldwin as champion Hereford and oe Walter Richland as champion Angus bull. Kenneth Lennon won the livestock judging contest with 147 of 150. Meadowlark H Club provided refreshments.

Deaths and Funerals Listed for Two Local Men
Funeral services are planned for Walter F. Mitchell 74 who died Sunday at 2 p.m. in the near Christian Church with Rev. W. Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery. Friends may call Bowser-Lee Mortuary after 4 p.m. today. William Arnett McPheeters 72 of Olathe died Monday after a decade long illness. He was a former Baldwin Vinland area resident, a retired farmer and auctioneer, and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Olathe. Services were set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Frye Chapel in Olathe with graveside at 2:45 p.m. in Vinland Cemetery. Surviving are his widow Bertha, two daughters Elizabeth Homan and Thelma Millbern, two sons W. Roscoe and Perry W., along with 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
