Zion I rapper Zumbi says the Midwest leg includes Lawrence at Granada with MC AmpLive. He promises high energy live shows, fresh freestyles, and heavy lyrics from the 2012 Shadow Boxing album, reflecting tai chi inspired spiritual focus.
Zion I will perform at 8 p.m. Monday at the Granada 1020 Massachusetts St with supporting bands Approach Deep Thinkers and Chase Compton. Tickets cost 12 in advance and 14 day of show for an all ages event. Zumbi discusses spirituality, conscious lyrics and self reflection influencing their music and the shift in hip hop culture toward openness and digital production.
Rumor of Teller's downtown restaurant closing for a July renovation to become a Midwest gastropub with extensive beer list. Owners Peterson and Wilson aim to keep Teller's name or create a new brand while developing ties with local brewers.
