Kansas lawmakers approve token maintenance plan for six state universities
Editorial notes a $380 million plan, actually $90 million in state funds over five years, for university maintenance amid about $660 million in needed repairs. It adds $62.6 million in tax credits to attract $120 million in private donations and $100 million in bonds for Washburn and vo-techs. Critics say the package is insufficient and uneven, risking further deterioration of state buildings.
