David H. Draper of 1827 N. H. St. is promoted to lieutenant colonel at Keesler AFB Mississippi, a World War II veteran and KU graduate with MD and AB degrees. Nan, his wife, is daughter of Barstow California resident Mrs. Wayne L. Field. Army Warrant Officer Richard W. Saunders, son of Mrs. Irene L. Dinkel, earns the Air Medal for aerial support in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division. Second Lt. Patricia E. Rappard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan W. Rappard, graduates from Gunter AFB orientation for Air Force nurses and heads to Sheppard AFB joining Air Training Command.
The Lawrence Board of Education will meet at 6 30 tonight at the Administration Center. The interim Lawrence Unified District No 497 board follows at 7 45 p m in the same location.
The National Association of Letter Carriers Northeast District held its second quarterly meeting in Lawrence with about 60 attendees at a smorgasbord dinner at the 4-H Fairgrounds. Local officers and district leaders chaired sessions and welcomed officials from Kansas City and Bethel.

Gene Peach Jr. a 64 year old retired AP writer died after an appendectomy and a subsequent heart attack. His widow Betty Peach is a staff writer for the San Diego Evening Tribune.
