Kansas archivist looks to future as he preserves past
Matt Veatch, state archivist at the Kansas State Historical Society, leads efforts to preserve both old and new history for future research. He oversees the digital state archives and a 40,000 cubic foot collection dating to 1861, including the Wyandotte Constitution and John Brown letters, with Kansasmemory.org serving 500 to 1,000 daily users. Veatch, 47, lives in Lawrence, is assistant director of the state archives and library division, and has worked for the society since 1992.
