The deadlock broke when the filibusterists adjourned the motion to take up the anti lynching bill. Three Mexican beet field workers were killed and five were critically injured when a truck plunged off a road near Muskogee Oklahoma on May 1. Twenty five others were less seriously hurt in the crash. In Omaha Nebraska on May 1 police Sgt W B Miller was shot in the head during a gun battle in which Phillip McCamey 26 a former convict was killed. Miller died later in the hospital.
