Robot Nao becomes newest Hutchinson classroom teacher
Hutchinson district introduces Nao the talking robot to the Career and Technical Education Academy. The 9.8 pound, 23.5 inch Japanese manufactured robot arrived in early March after a $21,785 grant from Cargill. Students and instructor Steve Stacey program and interact with Nao, which demonstrates tai chi and even humor, as enrollment in the program rises.

The city plans reconstructing eastbound lanes between Kasold Crestline and both directions between Crestline and Iowa Street with left turns and a 10 foot bike pedestrian path on the south side at an estimated cost of 1.4 million dollars. Wakarus a Drive to Dread West Drive will be widened with left turn lanes and bike lanes on both sides at about 1 million. Both projects go to bid in late April with construction starting late May and finishing by late August, requiring major detours.

Lawrence officials map ongoing Iowa Street roadway reconstruction from Bob Billings Parkway to the Irving Hill Overpass with reduced traffic to one lane each direction.
