Tax exemptions under debate for Kansas fitness clubs
Legislators in Topeka scrutinize tax status for for profit fitness clubs amid a push to study non profit exemptions after Senate Bill 72 proposed local property tax relief for private health clubs. Support from Genesis Health Clubs owner Rodney Steven contrasts with Democratic and GOP concerns over revenue and community services provided by groups like YMCA. Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley commented on the dispute.
