Teen escapes detention center. captured near Lawrence
Pam Weigand of Douglas County Youth Services said the teen escape occurred during a school class at the center and the youth remained in juvenile court. The juvenile was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for examination before returning to the center. It is the first escape since the center opened in 1995.
