Douglas County to Revise Open Burning Rules in Rural Areas
Douglas County will adjust its open burning restrictions after a winter and spring of grass fires. The change removes wind speed as a stand alone trigger and lets the county administrator ban burning on days with low to high weather indexes or resource and dry conditions. A proposed seven day ban was dropped. two planning items follow: a borrow pit conditional use permit southwest of North 1300 Road and East 1750 Road for 10 years with five year reviews, and a site plan to convert a residence at 1149 East 1500 Road into a church. County meetings are at 4 pm Wednesdays at the courthouse.
