Farm home improvement school slated for Lawrence area
A five county Homestead and Farm Improvement school will be held March 28 at the Lawrence Community building, approved by the Lawrence Chamber agriculture committee. Douglas County Farm Bureau and Miss Dorothea Schrader said experts from Kansas State College will cover planning, remodeling, landscaping, insulation, electrical and water systems, and septic tanks with sessions for farmers from five counties as part of a statewide program. William Essick of Liberty Memorial High School says another on the farm training class will be organized once an additional instructor is found. Thirty four veterans have requested the training, and a third class may be needed as enrollment is limited to 24 by Veterans Administration. Instructors must be agricultural college graduates with practical farming experience.
