LMH to Build Employee Retail Pharmacy at Hospital
Lawrence Memorial Hospital trustees approve a plan to open a hospital based retail pharmacy for employees and dependents. Prescriptions made up about 20 percent of the health plan costs in 2013, totaling nearly $2 million. Savings of 200,000 to 300,000 annually are predicted if 60 percent of covered employees use the pharmacy. Access will be voluntary and limited to health plan participants and their dependents, about 1,781 people.

Sous chef wins cook off and 1500 scholarship
Gina Skinner 25 of Lawrence won a 1500 tuition scholarship from International Culinary Schools at the Art Institutes after a Chopped inspired cook-off at the Lenexa Kansas City area campus on March 8. The Evan Williams Catering sous chef faced adult and high school senior entrants in a two course menu featuring shrimp cocktail chicken breast rice pilaf and broccoli.
