Board rejects Shawnee County tax bid against Westar planes
The Kansas Board of Tax Appeals denied Shawnee County’s bid to recover about 3.9 million dollars in back taxes on Westar Energy leased airplanes. County counsel Rich Eckert said the board misapplied a 2004 law defining predominant business use and the commission voted 3-0 to appeal to district court.
