Power line repairs mounting in northwest Kansas
Allan Miller of Prairie Land Electric says C and H Power Line of Dewey Oklahoma has a contract to rebuild at least 560 miles of line ruined by the 2005 ice storm with potential 900 more miles from the 2006 storm. The work covers Decatur Cheyenne Rawlins Sheridan Graham and Norton counties with FEMA funding totaling about 20 million for 2005 and an estimated 35 to 40 million for 2006. Miller hopes C and H finishes all restoration rather than bidding it out due to a contractor shortage.
