At the Kenneth A. Spencer Research Library the Hole and Corner Press revives 1890s Reliance Model A hand press for demonstrations and student projects. Nora Quinlan leads the teaching press, printing posters, cards, and poetry while explaining the craft and its link to book arts and freedom.
Jeff Collins details a 90 year old Washington type Reliance press at Kansas University’s Spencer Research Library. Nora Quinlan demonstrates hand setting with composing sticks and cases, explaining fonts, chases, tympan, platen, and drying ink on a basement clothesline-like ink line.
