Amish man guilty of involuntary manslaughter in wife death
Edward Gingerich was found guilty but mentally ill of involuntary manslaughter for killing his wife Katie in Rockdale Township on March 18 1993. The jury rejected insanity and sentencing was set for April 15 with possible confinement in a mental hospital or up to four years in prison.

Babylon New York AP four sanitation workers led by foreman Dan Lake found and recovered a pair of diamond and sapphire rings from a landfill after owner Helen David 85 left them in aluminum foil and tossed the foil with her garbage. They traced the truck and retrieved the rings in a 12 by 12 foot search. Mrs David cried with relief upon reunion and thanked the crew at a dumpside ceremony. The rings had been gifts from her husband and grandmother and remain unappraised.
