Arbor Day tree planting spreads to five area schools
More than 100 trees were planted by students this Arbor Day at five area schools, aided by PTA funds and student councils. Lawrence High School coordinated a “passed the hat” effort, and Tree City USA status will be celebrated with a flag at Sixth and Massachusetts. Osborne urged tree care, soil prep, and mulch to cope with dry conditions while noting vandalism concerns and plans to reuse dead wood.
