The city roared as KU defeated North Carolina 80 67 to clinch the championship. Fans poured onto Massachusetts Street, horns blaring and chanted Rock Chalk while crowds near Tellers, Eighth and Massachusetts watched from Johnny's Tavern and nearby bars. Summer of progress to pace Johnson County road work plan
Ambitious 2024 road work in Lawrence Kansas anchors a summer of progress. The 23rd Street bridge project between Haskell and Learnard avenues begins work early, with mid April intermittent lane closures to connect shoo-fly detours. In June dismantling will shift traffic onto the two lane shoo-flies at about 30 mph, down from 45.
