Space shuttle safety concerns addressed
NASA safety officials warned that without a crew ejection system the shuttle fleet risks another astronaut death before 2020. Sidney Gutierrez, panel member and Columbia flyer, stated safety margins have fallen far below minimums and urged studies on ejection options while noting no immediate need for new hardware before the next flight.
