Silent March in Emporia Supports Selma Protests
About 110 people from Emporia Kansas including students ministers teachers and townspeople joined a 10 block silent march in sympathy with Selma Alabama demonstrations. The protest also aimed to spotlight the Montgomery arrest of Jenkins an Emporia State College junior from Douglass Kansas who traveled to Alabama to join the protests.
