City Hall agendas include audit findings and Peaslee Center incentives
City commissioners review revised audit findings on concrete usage and project charges while considering final payment for the infrastructure. The Peaslee Technical Training Center seeks a $64 000 tax rebate on 2014 building taxes and multi grants totaling about 1 0.0 million, plus a 150 000 loan and a century of incentives to move workforce services nearby. The Eldridge Hotel expansion faces a 85 to 95 percent property tax rebate over 15 years under the Neighborhood Revitalization Act as the school board backs a 95 percent rebate and the city sets a meeting at City Hall.

Carmody urged that the city use the grant to engage artists and ensure a diverse set in the corridor. East Lawrence Neighborhood rep Dave Loewenstein urged fair treatment for current residents while Judy Romero, a Pennsylvania Street resident, attended to learn about the project and worries a downtown vibe might emerge. Romero later said she was satisfied with the process. The design team aims to reflect residents’ desires and keep an open mind, with the next committee meeting set for May 27.
