Community program entertains at Presbyterian church
Vinland’s Friday evening program at the Presbyterian church drew many attendees. A varied lineup featured instrumental duets by Adelia Jain Dean and Edith Woods, several readings, vocal solos by Dorcas Tucker and Dorothy Liston, and performances by Sidney Lind afrou and others. A massive blaze in East Nashville Tenn yesterday left 5 000 homeless, destroyed 600 residences and caused one death with estimated property loss of 1 500 000. National Guardsmen patrolled to deter looting as flames swept through a 30 block area fueled by high winds. The fire began from a wall of varn thrown from a vessel unknown, destroying a planing mill and threatening wealthy homes churches and institutions until wind subsided and blaze subsided.

State Treasurer Plans to Return Oil Fees to Firms
Kansas official Earl Akers announced readiness to refund about 125000 dollars to oil companies operating in the state. The refund covers fees collected by the state oil inspector during the past year after the February Kansas Supreme Court ruled the inspection law invalid.
