Six Crewmen Die As B25 Crashes In Texas Pasture

A B25 missing from Connally Air Force Base was found wrecked in a Hearne Texas pasture about 50 miles southeast. The crew of six were killed according to highway patrol. The crash occurred during a training flight amid gusty winds and possible turbulence after last radio contact near Gatesville. No Kansans among the victims.

Mulrooney, 20, surrendered yesterday on charges of threats and intimidation by use of explosives after a homemade bomb was tossed on the porch of psychology teacher Mildred Wellborn’s Pasadena home last Friday. Detectives say the suspect previously gave Wellborn a list of hobby interests including electronics photography and explosives.

Farmers Union Opens Overbrook Elevator With Open House

A large open house is set for Saturday at the Farmers Union grain elevator in Overbrook Kansas 25 miles southwest of Lawrence The 150000 bushel concrete and steel elevator completed Feb 12 cost 112000 with a portion financed locally and the rest by Wichita Bank for Coops It features two dumping pits 1000 and 800 bushels 22 bins and a 7000 bushel leg The facility sits beside Missouri Pacific tracks and is managed by Toy Arnold The union will also run a 14000 bushel frame elevator and operates a broader business in feeds fertilizers and petroleum products Officers on the board include B B Gilmore president E C Rappard vice president and others Throughout the event reps from feed and fertilizer firms will answer questions and door prizes will be awarded.

Employee at Quarry Killed in Accident

Joe Fink a 20 year old employee of the Anderson Quarry 3 miles north of Lawrence was killed when he was caught in machinery. He died at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Fink had lived in Tonganoxie since January and worked for three years. Survived by wife Velma and three children Connie Jo 3 1/2 years Keith Allen 14 and Kenneth Albert 9 months, his parents Mr and Mrs Albert J Fink Cedar Rapids Iowa sister Mrs Rose Perry and two brothers Robert E and Roger Cedar Rapids. Body to be sent to Iowa for funeral services. Fink Cooper Warren mortuary in charge.
