About 12 30 pm the vehicle left the road while the driver reached for something in the car. Several stitches were needed for cuts on her face. her condition was not serious. A.W.O.L. Sailor Nabbed After Check Frauds in Lawrence
Richard Lee Ish an A.W.O.L. U S Navy sailor linked to several counterfeit checks in Lawrence this winter and spring was captured in Kansas City Mo and delivered to naval authorities. Checks totaled 25 50 on January 25 880 50 on January 31 and 20 on March 5 5 drawn on First National Bank and Lawrence National Bank with Ish posing as Navy personnel at Kansas University. He had been staying in Ottawa and Kansas City and had been missing from a naval air base in California since December 1. Chief Bliesner warned local merchants to verify unidentified checks before acceptance to prevent further incidents.
