An attempted bank robbery near Pottsboro was thwarted when Smith County marshal and a night watchman confronted two would be robbers behind the First State Bank. First aid revived three year old twins of farmer W Wells after they were overcome by rhon oxide gas from their father's truck exhaust. The children were riding on the floor of the cab when the incident occurred. Authorities reported the twins responded to treatment.

Ober Honored for Leading Role in Chicago Pageant

H Ober, a top United States clothier, helped form a committee that chose styles and fabrics for the Golden Fleece Pageant in Chicago. He received a telegram thanking him for his stand in the affair as the show nears at the Hotel Roosevelt this week. Road work back in full swing with crews statewide

County engineer E. E. Trueblood and the board of county commissioners have revived the road improvement program paused by severe winter. Warm weather brings shale filling on the Eudora and Lawrence roads, new concrete for bridges, and plans to sand 27 miles, with work also on the Lake View, Baldwin Ottawa, and Hudora roads as crews press to restore all county routes to good condition through spring and fall.
