KU Police reports show 514 offenses on the Lawrence campus in 2023, a 1.2 percent drop from 2022, continuing a long term trend of fewer incidents on Mt Oread though the narrative notes a dramatic shift beginning in 2019.

President Biden and former President Trump won their parties primaries in Kansas and also easily carried Ohio Illinois and Florida. Florida Democrats canceled their primary awarding all 224 delegates to Biden. As results came in Biden led Douglas County Democratic votes 81.15 percent and Trump led Republican votes at 60.80 percent.
