Kansas House debates abortion bill HB 2253 amendments
State Rep Kinzer argued against amendments to HB 2253 as opponents warned the measure would extend a decade of abortion restrictions. The amendment on notifying parents and a separate change about abortion risk information failed. Bill 2253 would bar tax breaks to providers, limit deductions for abortion costs, and restrict Planned Parenthood sex education. Proponents framed the bill as restraining abortion. opponents warned it would not end abortions and could reduce safety.
