Fire at Kansas City elderly housing injures resident
A Saturday blaze at Babcock Place 1700 Mass in Kansas City Kansas sent more than 100 residents fleeing and left one man, Jack Riley, in critical condition. Fire Chief Jim McSwain cited lack of fire sprinklers as a deficiency allowed by law and noted Riley’s severe smoke inhalation treated at KU Medical Center in a hyperbaric chamber.
