A 1939 Buick sedan carrying seven men including Carlton Dickinson and Bill Baisinger crashed into a steel sign pillar at the Tibbets Standard station on Sixth and Massachusetts. Two KU students were killed and two others seriously injured. Dickinson remained in grave condition with intercranial injuries.
