Police investigate infant left alone in West Eighth apartment
Police report a seven month old boy was left unattended from 2 30 p m to 10 30 p m Thursday in a West 8th Street apartment. A 45 year old man at the same address reported the incident. The child was taken into custody as a child in need of care after officers could not locate the mother.

KCC fines exploration firm for Jefferson County wells
The Kansas Corporation Commission fined KLM Exploration Inc seven thousand eight hundred dollars for failure to file affidavit of completion forms and for not providing information for thirteen wells on the Edmonds and Hedgepath leases near McLouth in Jefferson County. An additional sixty dollar penalty was issued for failing to file required forms within 30 days of closing surface ponds on six wells on the Edmonds lease.
