City to study uniform ticketing rules after Mibeck incident

Utility director Ervin Hodges resigns for GTI post

Lawrence city utilities director Ervin Hodges will resign effective April 5 to take a marketing role with Grinnell Valve Division of International Telephone and Telegraph in Elmira New York. Hodges has served since 1970 in several city posts and will relocate locally for six months. Roger Coffee will serve as acting director while a replacement is sought. The Lawrence Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7 PM today in city hall on the proposed comprehensive plan.

Lawrence Chamber Elects Groene And New Officers

The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce elected Tom Groene as president for the coming year at its board meeting. Arkie Vaughn was chosen vice president for economic development Ned Cushing was named vice president for community affairs and Gloria Morton was elected vice president for operations. Glenn West was re elected executive vice president. After installation at the April annual meeting the board will confirm leadership roles with Hack continuing as president and others in a transition.

Rostropovich Concert At KU Draws Limited Tickets

Few tickets remain for March 26 at Hoch Auditorium Kansas University as Mstislav Rostropovich the famed cellist performs with pianist Samuel Sanders. The program includes Handel Weber Beethoven Schumann Britten with the Britten Sonata in C Major dedicated to Rostropovich. Tickets available at the Fine Arts box office in Murphy Hall.
