Washington March 1 AP The army will resume airmail transport over nine routes at 12 01 am Monday after War Department approval following Eddie Rickenbacker demand that President Roosevelt purge his official family of traitorous elements misadvised him on the airmail issue. Ten army pilots had been killed since government started carrying the mail. Foulois recommended resuming flying and received approval to use his judgment. Routes include New York to Chicago Chicago to San Francisco Boston to New York Chicago to Dallas Salt Lake City to San Diego Salt Lake City to Seattle Chicago to St Paul Cheyenne to Denver and New York to Atlanta and Jacksonville. Rickenbacker urged a new federal commission to regulate private air service and warned cancellation could hurt the aircraft industry. State Legislator Dies in Topeka at 58
Joseph K. Hicks, 58, of Beloit, state representative from Mitchell County, died at a Topeka hospital after several weeks of illness. A retired army captain, Hicks served in the Spanish American War, the Philippine insurrection, and in World War I, where he was an acting major. Supreme court asked to consolidate disputed inheritance tax cases
Topeka March 17 AP The supreme court was asked to consolidate all cases involving disputed inheritance taxes and to consider claims judgments and pro rate available funds among claimants. In three instances the court granted judgments for recovery from the inheritance tax commission for tax on stocks of a Kansas corporation owned by a nonresident at death. Pending settlement funds were impounded and partially deposited in Fidelity State and Savings Bank at Emporia when it closed in a bond probe. The state refuses to pay claims from other funds. Hearing set for April 2.
