Hispanic groups rally for immigrant rights in Kansas
Several hundred gathered on the Capitol steps to press for immigrant rights and benefits, urging driver licenses eligibility and comprehensive reform as Kansas braces for a busy election season. Organizers Sunflower Community Action and El Centro Inc said they would sustain local organizing with leaders like Jose Manuel Ortiz while lawmakers consider restricting noncitizen benefits and reviving in state tuition debates. Six groups receive technical help from the Kansas Hispanic and Latino American Affairs Commission to boost political participation and leadership across the state.
