Weather alert mapping flaw omits Lawrence location
Weather Service officials explain a warning miss by software limits. A four sided polygon marked western Lawrence but the mapping system recognizes only one city point, downtown, so Lawrence wasn’t named though in northwest Douglas County. Officials plan to adjust to reflect city growth and shift points west.

Lawrence Okays Siren Test After Microburst Damage
Tuesday siren warnings were only tests as the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the county.
