The Pelathe District Camporee is planned for April 30 to May 2 at Camp Bromersick southwest of Lawrence. Explorer and Senior Scouts run the event with Mike Blitch as director and Steve Bowles handling facilities. Charles Cape is program director, with assistants Gale Willey Andy Anderson Rod Dutt John Bower Bob OConnor and Greg Arnold. Adults will advise on preparations and operations for this public showing of Scouting and camping skills.

Airlines, motors, steels, aerospace, chemicals and electronics led gains while low priced American Photo Copy traded actively. Du Pont, General Motors, Eastman Kodak and General Electric rose, IBM and U S Smelting up about 3, and corporate bonds little changed.
Mrs. Pearl Ann Henik aged 74 of rural Linwood dies in Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements through Rumsey Funeral Home. She leaves two sons, three daughters, and many relatives including 20 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Funeral for Mrs. Laura Mitchell of Winchester set for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Winchester Methodist Church with burial at Bethel Cemetery. Mrs. Mitchell, born in England in 1879, died in a Winchester nursing home. Hampton Funeral Home of Oskaloosa handling arrangements. Mary L. Brinkman, 59, of 212 East 14th Street, died Friday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Graveside service held at Washington, Kan., with Rev. Harold M. Mallett in charge.
Funeral services for James Bell Deatherage 67 of 940 Tenn will be at 10 30 a m Tuesday at Rumsey Funeral Home Rev Benton Roy Hanan to officiate Burial will follow at Clinton Cemetery Deatherage a former Colorado Springs resident and member of the First Christian Church was a retired rancher.
Er died early Sunday at his home. Survived by wife Adda Deatherage of the home two daughters Dorothy Black of Colorado Springs Colorado and Janice Stumpfhauser of Kansas City Kansas a brother Earl Ferguson of Topeka and four grandchildren.
Jess Whitmore Grant 84 of Tonganoxie died late Sunday at his home. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Quisenberry Funeral Home with Rev. James H. Nelesen officiating and burial in Hubbel Hill Cemetery. Calling hours start after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Survivors include wife Pearl Grantz five daughters three sons and one brother Miles Grantz. Born July 1 1880 in Armstrong County Pennsylvania.
Orville Powell 80 of 1321 N J died Sunday in a Topeka hospital. A lifelong Lawrence resident, he worked for Weavers from 1929 to 1959. He belonged to Ninth Street Baptist Church and the Double-Six Birthday Club. Funeral 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey Funeral Home with Rev. W. S. Sims officiating. Burial Maple Grove Cemetery. Survived by wife Cora Powell, daughter Faye Powell, grandson Tommy Spencer, and sister in law Mrs Amy Powell. He was born in Lawrence.
