St Louis Cardinals eye pennant bid with changing lineup

St Petersburg Fla March 15 UP Old age creeping up on the St Louis Cardinals but Musial Slaughter punch plus Brecheen pitching make the Red Birds a pennant threat. Manager Eddie Dyer shifts away from Brooklyn and towards Boston as a rival. He cites Pete Reiser’s recovery, Murry Dickson, Bob Muncrief, Hugh Casey aiding the club, and the need to replace Terry Moore as pressing. Kurowski’s elbow operation last Sept leaves an arm question. Northey slimmed to compete for right field. Musial likely centers, Slaughter captain left. Sauer and Dusak provide infield and outfield depth.
