Lawrence murder case tied to arson and conspiracy
Joel Wales, 34, was found dead Nov 3 2017 in his mother’s home near Lawrence after a fire. Evans, 38, and Towell, 37, both of Lawrence and Leavenworth, face first degree murder, conspiracy, arson and aggravated burglary charges with a $1 million bond each. The affidavit alleges a plot to kill Wales, who fathered one of Evans’ children, and to cover it by arson. Towell allegedly drove Evans to the scene. A separate trial for Danny Queen, 36, in a June 2017 shooting death, is set for April 2.
