KU plans a 25 percent stake in a Phenom 100 private jet for about 289000 funded by the KU Endowment Association. The move replaces a 50 percent King Air C90B contract, reduces annual use to 80 days, seats fewer, and aims to cut maintenance costs while preserving rural outreach through KU Medical Center.

Salary caps proposed for higher education funding

The House budget panel proposes holding salaries and wages at current levels for two years as part of new higher education cuts. An across-the-board 4 percent reduction, totaling $29.2 million, would hit Kansas University by nearly $10 million. KU officials criticized the prior cut, saying it would hinder growth of the Kansas economy, while no immediate response came from KU or the Regents to the latest proposal.
