KanCare plan concerns voiced at Statehouse
Several hundred advocates for people with developmental disabilities traveled to the Statehouse in Topeka to oppose Gov. Brownback’s KanCare privatization plan. Cottonwood Inc. CEO Sharon Spratt met with officials, saying long-term supports for the disabled don’t fit private cost management, while a House committee weighs bills to exempt disability programs from managed care and require audits of KanCare contractors. Also in Topeka, an amendment to end grocery sales tax was approved, costing about 350 million annually.
