Senate votes to limit campaign influence in Kansas
The Kansas Senate approved a measure banning contributions to legislative and state office candidates from unions corporations and political action committees by a 33 to 6 vote. The House continues its own ethics reform efforts with differing provisions, while abortion and teen drinking issues receive intense debate. Local option budgets for districts gain support and space reallocation plans aim to free 12 000 square feet for expanded legislative offices. The primary election date moves to August and Graves faces hurdles restructuring the Human Rights Commission.
