Youth Treated After Mishap Of Car and Cycle

Lonnie L I White, 18, of 3502 West Eighth Street, was treated and released at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after his motorcycle and a car collided at 4 01 p m on West Ninth near Town. Dennis A Longfellow, 34, of Grandview Missouri, drove the car and claimed street markings misled him into a left turn. Damage estimated at 200 to the car and 300 to the motorcycle. Police also reported four other collisions. Stephen K Edmonds, 23, of Baldwin Route 3, is charged with leaving the scene, driving without a license, DUI and driving left of center after a North Third Locust collision. Mrs Margaret J Rayton, 19, sustained neck pain but did not seek treatment.

Well Dressed Pair Escape After Hiding in Store

Two 13 and 14 year old girls escaped a darkened downtown department store in Kansas City by rapping on a door for a watchman. They were taken to police headquarters and questioned by patrolwoman Susan Johnston who noted their neat attire. They admitted hiding in the store after hours and selecting new ward robes including undergarments, dresses, coats, shoes, sunglasses, and discarded old clothing. Police kept them until parents brought change of clothes.

Lawrence area officials say weekend visitors to Perry Lake at Oskaloosa should stay on beaten paths as hard surface and gravel roads are in good shape. The main marina remains under repair after a recent storm, lake level near 890 feet, with normal pool at 891.5. The park lies about 16 miles northwest of Lawrence.

Indecency Incidents Reported In Lawrence Cars

Lawrence police logged two cases where occupants of a light compact car asked improper questions of young girls. In one case four persons rode in the car. in the other the driver was alone, a white man with brown hair and a headband. A license-plate was obtained in the lone driver case and traced to a Lawrence resident. Detectives to investigate. A 10 year old and a 6 year old reported encounters near Ninth and Maine and Ninth and Sunset.
