Expanded Social Security Would Require Large Payroll Levy
Washington reports that an expanded social insurance program based on the NRPB plan would need employer employee payroll contributions well over 5 billion dollars annually. The Social Security Board notes 2.275 billion was collected in 1942 under a 5 percent levy and a 10 to 12 percent levy could more than double that total.
