Safety Sleeve aids door security for school classrooms
Tonganoxie teacher Tiffany Parker promoted a device called the Safety Sleeve after the Parkland shooting. The 4 to 6 inch sleeves slide over door hinges, preventing outside opening. Parker, a former Tonganoxie High School volleyball coach, crafted the sleeve from repurposed fire hoses and shared its use with the district.

County programs divert inmates but leave many in jail
