Royals TV package draws cable opposition in Kansas
Sunflower Broadband and several area outlets balk at a Royals package, arguing the 100 game plan is too costly and less valuable than ESPN. Only Time-Warner is on board, with Sunflower Broadband wary of higher basic rates since the offer cannot be pay per view. The Royals will air 14 games on KMCI and 13 Sunday broadcasts, starting with spring training and a April 4 opener against Cleveland.

Madill Wrestler Drops Metro Classic Match 8 4
Aaron Madill of Lawrence High, a top scorer with school records, lost 8-4 to John Jarred of Park Hill in the Metro Classic at Kansas City Community College. Madill, gassed by the third period after ten days off, cut the lead to 5-4 late but Jarred, Missouri state champ in 2002 and 2003, clinched it with turns. The event showcases top KC area seniors including Wellsville, Fort Scott, Atchison, Oak Grove, Platte County and Lee's Summit with Madill as only the second LHS wrestler to compete.
