Jesse James Suit Starts in Court in Colorado Springs
In Denver area court Monday the $1.1 million libel suit by Jesse Lee James III against the Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph opened. James, who did not appear, claims the paper libeled him by asserting he is the outlaw Jesse James’s grandson and that the outlaw died in 1882. The defense presented psychiatrist Dr. Richard L. Conde who testified the plaintiff seemed mentally ill.
