Auditions Bring Jazz Artists to Lawrence Arts Center
Ohtake and Jian audition for the KU Jazz Festival and History Day in Kansas City. Ohtake, born in Japan, pursued piano before switching to trombone and aims for music performance and education. Jian arrives early, performs scales, and hopes her History Day success leads to the recital selection. Both face a demanding, packed day and celebrate later with lists confirming their spots among the chosen 11.
