Beloved Karr Funeral Plans Cancelled After Sudden Passing
Christofer L. Karr, 46, formerly of Lawrence Kansas, died February 6 2022 in New York. A US Army veteran and longtime pressman at Lawrence Journal World, he moved to Ballston Spa to marry Meredith Hamilton, with which he planned a February 22 2022 wedding. He is survived by Meredith, his children Alisia and Tyler, stepdaughter Hannah, his mother Betty Nichols and sister Tammy Strong. No services are planned per his wishes.

Elizabeth Hare 1935 2024 lifelong activist dies in Lawrence
Elizabeth Hare known as Liz, aged 89, died March 6 after a long battle with Alzheimer's at Bridge Haven Village in Lawrence Kansas. Memorial services set for March 24 at Trinity Episcopal Church with a birthday celebration to follow. Memorials may be directed to Hare Family Garden Fund or Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland Chapter via Warren McElwain Mortuary. She is survived by husband Jerry Hare daughters Sally Schriner and Pat Hare and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born March 24 1935 in Kearney Nebraska she grew up in Grand Island Nebraska attended the University of Nebraska and married Jerry Hare in 1956. Her career spanned YWCA public relations Kansas Hospital Association and leadership roles with Girl Scouts and Rotary. Her community work continued in Lawrence after moving in 2001.

Winter storm forces KU and area districts to cancel classes
